    1. Registration district for Horton?

    3. Hi, I have a family member listed as being born in Horton on the census in the early 1840's and I was just wondering if somebody could please tell me which registration district I might look for when looking for his birth registration in the indexes please? Only he has quite a popular name so there are many with his name in the different quarters and I wasn't quite sure which place name to look for. I had thought maybe Eton but have found one with his name in what seems like an appropriate quarter under Amersham and wonder if that could be a possibility? Thankyou very much for your kind advice. Regards, Tina Connell

    3. There are a number of Horton's but I think the one you are looking for is the Horton near Windsor which is in the ETON Reg District - I have family who originated there. There is also a Horton but in Bucks just south of Leighton Buzzard. A visit to the relevant Genuki page at http://www.fhsc.org.uk/genuki/REG/bkm.htm#eton suggests that it is Eton. >Only he has quite a popular name so there are many with his name in the > >different quarters and I wasn't quite sure which place name to look for. My map shows 2 Hortons; one east of Datchett and the other south of Leighton Buzzard, but neither anywhere near Amersham. There are also numerous other Hortons in other parts of the country.
