This is really a question for Eve but the answers may be of interest to someone else. I am working on the Bishop's Transcripts for Stewkley. In 1829 the Curate had really neat writing, except when it came to his own name! Can you confirm that he was Lawrence Armitstead? Also, one of the officiating ministers is Revd W Wodley, described as Perpetual Curate of Soulbury. Somewhere else I have a note which says in 1806 The Revd. Mr Wodley of Cublington was the owner of the Manor. Then another note which says "the village ghost was the Revd William Wadley who haunted the Manor House. It is said he had a long flowing beard and rode a white horse." Can you tell me whether all these refer to the same person. Did he become the Vicar of Stewkley or was he just living there? Is the Manor House still there and what is it called? Thank you for your help, Jane
