John HUBBOCKS born about 1818 (1861 census). I'm afraid I don't know this area at all is Bucks also a town in Buckinghamshire? I thought it was just a short form for the county. Bucks is an abbreviation of Buckinghamshire. Buckingham is the town for which the county is named - but it's not the county town. That's Aylesbury. Only Jane HUBBOCKS in 1851 census of Bucks was in Temple Street, Brill. Aged 35, born Dedington OXF. Wife of Henry HUBBOCKS age 42 b Brill. Nephew John TIMS, 14, b Dedington, living with them. No John within 10 years of that age. They'd probably moved away by then. 20 HUBBOCKS in the county. 18 Brill, 1 Maids Moreton - and they were born in Brill. Also 11 HUBBUCKS in Oakley.
