    3. Hi Adrian and List, The village of Stantonbury was transformed into New Bradwell from about 1850 onwards by the LNWR railway company and many of the streets were given "working names". My own grandmother in the 1881 census lived at 189 Top St. in the 1891 census she is at 81, Bridge st., same house, different street name and number. In the book "Bradwell Past and Present" by Marion Hill ISBN 0-7509-1764-4 there is a brief history of the area including a map of the street layout by which I am sure you will be able to identify the house you are interested in. I suspect that it is The Newport Rd. opposite what was to become the Recreational Ground. The houses that you have seen with the 3 stories were in Spencer street ( previously Middle St.)a section of which as been preserved and now is run by a commune trust. The book is available from Abebooks, and although written by an incomer and contains some inaccurate information is very good value for recording the development and eventual destruction of the village. It is basically a photographic record of the area. One disappointing aspect is the very poor binding. HTH Bob S
