    1. WALEBY surname
    2. Rosemary Jenkins
    3. I'm descended from the first of the three marriages of my 3xgt.grandfather, William STRANKS. This took place at Hardwick on 12 October 1802, and the bride was Elizabeth WALEBY. The groom was "of Bierton" (although he was born at Hardwick), and the bride was "of Hardwick". Elizabeth died in Jan 1808, shortly after the birth of her second child, and her stated age at death suggests that she was born around 1780. I have never been able to discover anything else about my 3xgt.grandmother, Elizabeth. A Thomas WALESBY is listed in the Posse Comitatus as a servant at Steeple Claydon, and there are three men with the surname WHALE at Marsh Gibbon. The IGI lists quite a number of WALBY events in various parts of the country, but it seems not to be a Bucks name. I was wondering if anybody else has a Waleby (or variants) in Bucks, or could suggest where Elizabeth might have originated. Rosemary Jenkins North Yorks, UK
