Anyway, I've just had a look, and there is no Nicholas Woodliffe listed. In fact, there are no Woodliffes of any forename, and I've tried all the variant spellings I can imagine, including beginning with O-. On the other hand, only a handful of Archdeaconry wills have survived from before the 1520s or 30s. For the period c1480-1520 there are a few probate entries (without the text of the wills) in the court's act books, which have been printed in The Courts of the Archdeaconry of Buckingham 1483-1523, ed EM Elvey, Bucks Rec Soc 19 (1975). But no Woodliffe appears among them, either. So no joy at all, I'm afraid. Matt
