    1. [BKM] Bucks Militia
    2. David Thompson
    3. I am interested in the Thompson family who served in the above from circa 1856-1898 when I believe the Militia was disbanded. I know that Richard Thompson came to Wycombe in 1856 after his service in the Grenadier Guards ended and he remained active until shortly before he died in 1881. I also know about his son John Thompson's (1857-1897) career in the Militia and then progression to a life in the Army. I would now like to know more about the other son - George (1861-?) - he was a drummer boy, then moved up the ranks and I believe he might have moved on to the Oxford & Bucks Lt. Inf. when the Militia disbanded. His family are on the 1901 census without him, and in 1905 when 2 of his daughters married their marr. certs. state he was in South Africa. Does anyone know anymore about George or his family?
