Hi Everyone My name is Amanda and I live about 4 miles from Claydon House. It would be in Middle Claydon. There are for villages surrounding Claydon House, Middle Claydon, East Claydon, Botolph Claydon and Steeple Claydon. Steeple Claydon being the larger of the four. Regards Amanda Brubaker (Nee HALL) Padbury, Bucks

Thank you, Amanda, for this information about the towns named Claydon. I live in California and recently subscribed to the Buckingham list in hopes of finding informtion about my ancestor, William SEAR, b. about 1835 in England but was in the United States before 1861. About the only clue I have of his area of origin in England is that he named a son Claydon in the 1880s. A kind soul send me these promising leads from the English census: 1841 in Main St. Padbury, Buckinghamshire living with William Hutchin`s 55 & Elizabeth his wife 50 was a William Sear 6 yrs old 1851 census Hamlet of Bourtonhold, Buckingham, England Living with John Markham age 31 a Blacksmith was his family, and a William Sear age 16 (single) An Apprentice to the Blacksmith! born Steeple Claydon As the wife of John Markham was Ann Hutchins, I think these Williams listed above may be the same person, and my ancestor William Sear was indeed a blacksmith in the United States. I have learned that Padbury is a very small village. Are you familiar with any of these names? Thanks, Roberta
