Collectioner means a pauper who receive small hand outs from the money collected for poor relief from the somewhat better off folk. The Overseers of the poor allocated this money, according to the status and needs of the person. On the whole, a single person or widow/er would get about 1s6d to 2s, and a widow with small children would get a slight increase per child. This was added to if the recipient was sick, unless by provision of parish nursing (amateur) or medicine from the local doctor. You sometimes see wills where gifts are left to 'the poor of this parish not receiving collection'.
