    3. Hi Firebird Thanks for your reply, yes, James New died around 1945 so I have been told, however, I do have to have the correct date so a certificate can be acquired, James died of an incurable disease, this is the reason for getting the death certificate. Cheers, Jenette ----- Original Message ----- From: "Firebird" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, July 10, 2007 4:17 PM Subject: Re: [BKM] Fw: Public Records (death) > JENETTE wrote: > >> Would SKS please be able to look up the death record for James NEW, >> born 23/10/1928 at Burnham, Bucks. The only possible matches I could find were for Arthur J NEW age 13 death registered in Bermondsey (1d 101) Mar qtr 1941. Jean NEW age 18 death registered in Watford (4b 201) Sept qtr 1946 The ages are right in both cases. Was James registered or baptised as Arthur James? Could he have acquired an additional Christian name at some point? Jean is less likely to be right but it might be a mistranscription since the GRO compiles the indexes from information from the local registry offices. Deaths are registered where they happened and not where the person usually lived. If James was in a hospital when he died then that might be the reason why he isn't where you are expecting him to be. It would seem likely that he would be in a hospital or hospice for his last days if he was incurable especially if he needed medical care too.
