Deirdre, having had a brief look at the Aylesbury St. Mary parish registers, I can see that you can trace the Sherriffs back to the early to mid-eighteenth century in Aylesbury, & the families they married rather more. You stand a pretty good chance of being able to get back to the late 16th century. If it was just a look-up of a set or two of parents, I'd do it for you, but in this case, it'd be a question of not knowing where to stop. I recommend you get hold of the St. Mary PRs.
