    3. June, what I've given is everything in the Aylesbury St. Mary register for Thomas & Mary & their children, except this (don't know how I missed it) - 19 Aug 1839 William Elliott chr son of Thomas & Mary HYDE of Aylesbury, Grocer. The 1851 entries are from the Bucks FHS transcription: I don't have access to the original images for 1851 at the moment. It's possible J. H. was a mistranscription. There's also a single christening in 1838 - George, 12 Dec 1838, son of Charles & Ann HYDE of Walton, Labourer (Walton is part of Aylesbury - then outlying, now central). BTW, it's MOORES, not MOORE, though the names might still have been interchangeable. I'd say it's pretty likely that her last name was MOORES (unless it means that she re-married a MOORES, but if so it wasn't at St. Marys) & if you get the birth certificate of one of her children born after 1837, you can check. It'll give her maiden name. Available online at http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/ with the reference, which you can get from http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl e.g. Mary Maria HYDE - birth registered Jun quarter 1838, Aylesbury district, Volume 6 Page 296 You can see that she & William Elliott weren't twins, but that she was christened late, & there was another William Elliotts birth registered, in 1840. Presumably the first one died, although there's no death registered (registration wasn't complete to start with). Paul June Dugaro wrote: > Paul, this is amazing. 3. Since my only known Berkshire ancestor married in Reading ca 1600, I've not studied Berkshire sources other than the very earliest Reading parish registers. So sorry, no. The Berkshire list might be able to help. The Berks FHS has a library, next to the local archives, & there are probably regular visitors to both who are familiar with the records. I'm afraid that to me, Chaddleworth means The Ibex, & since it now has a website with an extensive wine list but not a single mention of beer, I've gone off it. 3. Hello Listers, I wonder if someone can help me with information on my family SHERRIFF of Aylesbury Buckinghamshire please. I have been told they are a large family and that several generations of them were Wardens of the Goal. I note that the Sherriff family were Christenened at St Mary's Aylesbury, and possibly marriages as well, I would like to know how to purchase copies of documents about this family and if Paul or anyone else with spare time :) would be able to fill in some details for me please I would be so grateful for the kindness. It would be just great to meet with a relative or someone who is researching this name as I can fill a book from this end with the Australian info that I have. Sincere thanks for reading my email, Happy New Year to All Deirdre

    3. Hello Deirdre, I don't know if I can help with the SHERRIFF family of Ayesbury, but am descended from Joan Sherriff born at Quainton abt 1600 & think that they are probably the same family as they would be less than 10 miles apart. Are you aware that there has been a book written about the descendents of 3 brothers who were transported tfrom Quainton to VanDiemens Land in 1816, 1822 1825? I am obviously not closely related, but always interested in adding to what I know of the family. Where are you in Aust.?... I am in Hobart.. Yvonne
