Paul, this is amazing. Thank you. So this means that Thomas and Mary Hyde are my gr, gr, gr grandparents! May I ask if you found a christening date for William Hyde born around 1840? He appears in the 1841 census as 8 months and 10 in 1851. And may I ask is there any record of the marriage for a Mary ?? and Thomas Hyde in Aylesbury? As it says in the 1851 census William Elliott Hyde is a grandson is it possible that Mary's last name was Moore?? Who do you think that J. H. Hyde (female) was?? Thank you so much and a very Happy New Year to you, June ----- Original Message ----- From: Paul Irving To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, January 01, 2008 11:29 AM Subject: Re: [BKM] Hyde Family St. Marys, Aylesbury 29 Feb 1832 Mary Ann chr dau of Thomas & Mary HYDE, Grocer. Paul, for Thomas Hyde 1841 you wrote out of county. Does that simply mean that he wasn't born in Aylesbury and rest were? Paul, in the 1851 census , Silver Street, Aylesbury, John Moores, 69, born Hitcham BKM, a Malt Dealer. May I ask if you know what a malt dealer is and is there anyway I could get more information on John Moores? A malt dealer bought & sold malt, as used in the making of beer, malt vinegar, etc. There are a couple of Moores in the IGI for Hitcham, but only a couple. It's only just in Bucks, down in the far south. However, as I suspected, there's a John Moores in Upper Winchendon in 1841. Farmer, aged 59, wife Mary 55, sons Jos. 25, Jas. 23, & Thos. 19. It fits. Plenty of farmers giving up & going into other business back then. BTW, I found this in the St. Mary PRs - 26 Apr 1842 - marriage by licence John MOORS, of full age, bachelor, Draper of Aylesbury, son of John MOORS, Malster Laura Ann BALFOUR, of full age, spinster of Aylesbury, daughter of Alexander BALFOUR, Schoolmaster Witnesses: Francis ROADS, Thomas HYDE Marriage solemnised by James BALFOUR, St. James, Cheltenham Pretty solid evidence that John MOORES the younger, draper, is the son of the John MOORES later recorded as the grandfather of one of the children of Thomas & Mary HYDE. Balfour - Scottish, by the name. Paul June Dugaro wrote: > Paul, in the 1851 census , Silver Street, Aylesbury, John Moores, 69, born Hitcham BKM, a Malt Dealer.
