    3. Paul I'd agree, that's why I've been looking in Bucks mostly. I really took it to mean he wasn't born in Chilton. Thanks also for looking in Long Crendon, Brill etc. I am very grateful, a negative answer can be as useful as a positive sometimes. Thanks for all your help Regards Liz ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paul Irving" <pauljirving@ntlworld.com> To: <bucks@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, April 16, 2009 1:27 PM Subject: Re: [BKM] Mary SPENSER > I'd treat the "out of county" with suspicion. 3. There was a John PLESTEAD christened Chearsley 02 Oct 1748, son of John & Margaret, & one christened 23 Aug 1752, son of Thomas & Ann (CARTER - mar. 30 Sep 1751, banns). John buried 28 Feb 1759. Margaret (widow) bur 12 Sep 1772. Looks like his second wife. Martha bur 18 Sep 1742, wife of John - 9 days after the christening of Richard, son of John & Martha. First child of John & Margaret christened 1745. There you are - two choices from Chearsley. No marriages for either in the village. Only Plestead in the PRs before 1742 was an entry in 1575. Perhaps they're some of the Ashendon lot, moved down the road to Chearsley.
