    3. Hi Joe (a) next of kin can apply for service records, it costs 30 to 35 pounds and can take around six months (last I was advised) For Officers or Soldiers whose regular or reserve service ended after 1921 Apply to :- Army Personnel Centre HQ Secretariat Historical Disclosures Mail Point 400 Kentigern House 65 Brown Street Glasgow G2 8EX You do need to provide confirmation of relationship (b) as I understand it the WW2 campaign medals were not named (although some were marked privately) (c) yes you can buy copies of full size or miniatures , what you might like to consider is buying another soldiers originals and that way you can not only honour your man but the original man as well, you can find them at specialist sellers or via the likes of ebay For copies try your nearest large newsagent for a copy of the magazine Medal News which has plenty of adverts for both Best wishes Nivard Ovington, in Cornwall (UK) PS its always best to post to one list at a time, crossposting can cause problems for list Admins and cause confusion when others reply to lists they are not subscribed to > What I need to know is.(a) is it possible for me to get his service > record, and details of his medals.(b) were there any distinguishing marks > on these medals that would identify them specifically as my uncles` (c) is > it possible to buy copies of the original medals. 3. Point taken, Nivard. Fortunately I am his next of kin now,(since my fathers` death in 1993) I got some information regarding another relative from the Royal Engineers Association, but he was a great uncle, and I certaily wouldn`t qualify as his next of kin. He was a Colonel, and all. thanks again for the advice.
