Hi all, I am trying to sort out fact from fiction and making sure what I have is all for the same person. FACT- 1) Elsa Marguerite KING born in 1883 in South Australia, daughter of Thomas KING (1835-1886 born Whaddon, Bucks) and Muriella Octavia KENNEDY (2nd wife). 2) Married Edwin Ryder LARGE 1907 in NSW - he died in 1928 suicide on his ship in India. 3) She was a pianist and played at lest in a Concert for South Irish Loyalists 1925. 4) Marguerite King of Adelaide has won Exhibition prize among the pianists of Royal College. UNCONFIRMED for this Elsa Marguerite KING. 1) LILIAN MARY GASKELL, FRCM, was educated at St Paul's Girl's School (1906-1909) where she studied the piano under Marguerite Valentine King. 2) I MARGUERITE KING, of Manor Cottage, , Frognal-lane, Hampstead, in the county of London, Spinster, known in my profession of a Musician as Marguerite Valentine, hereby give notice, that I have assumed and intend henceforth upon all occasions and at all times to sign and use and be called and known by the surname of Valentine only in lieu of and in substitution for my present surname of King, (1920) 3) IN 1911 census HOUSEHOLD KING MARGUERITE VALENTINE F 1883 28 Wycombe Buckinghamshire 4) Many newspaper acticles in the NY times (most of which I cannot get into as I don't have membership) have a Marguerite VALENTINE pianist. Sorry the prelude is so long but does anyone know this person? Does anyone have claim to a Marguerite Valentine KING who lived in Wycombe in 1911 who can confirm either way? Hi i don't recognize any one of your kings but i have a Ann King married to John Seamons in Buckinghamshire. They had daughters Sophia, and Ann. does this Ann king have any connexion to yours? Hi Pat, Read your post, my interest is in emigrants from BKM to AUS. I had the date of death of Thomas KING tentatively entered as 11.07.1908 in Adelaide, SA, the SA Death Index doesn't seem to show him in 1886. Can you help? Hi Trish, Thomas KING born 15/2/1835 in Whaddon, Bucks and died on the 20th Nov 1886 in England registered Paddington 1a 22. He and his second wife went back to England for his health but he died there. Thomas's father William KING was bap 26/11/1816 Nash and he died at sea on the 8th Feb 1883. His wife Elizabeth nee BUTCHER 26/10/1817 Thornborough, Bucks and died 4/1/1878. There is a whole large family of KING's and BUTCHER's if you are interested!
