The first is quite easy - I am looking for the baptism details for John Sheppard born 1837 Beachampton. The other question is a nightmare. William Sheppard was born about 1808 Beachampton (according to census info) - but I can find no record of his birth. William is the son of John Sheppard and Mary Humphrey (married 1801 Beachampton). The baptism records for Beachampton give his daughter Elizabeth born 1835 to William and Ann (Read). I can find no marriage record for William. Now it gets interesting. William was in Bucks until 1840 at least when a daughter was born. 1841 census shows him in Hunslet, West Yorks with wife Ann and his children. A scant eight months later he has a son, William, to "Ruth Shepherd formerly Read" in Hull. I cannot find out what happened to Ann but he did not marry Ruth until 1844 - and then he described himself as a bachelor .... Ann and Ruth were both named Read but were not sisters. Ruth Read was from Lincolnshire. Can anyone help at all ? A marriage for William and Ann would be a huge help. A death for Ann would be wonderful. Any ideas would be gratefully received. Cheers - Sue
