Hi Jackie, If the IGI records are anything to go by there weren't any LODERs in Bucks before the late 1700s, although a search of the Bucks FHS Baptisms index would confirm/disprove this. My gut feel is that the Bucks LODERs are quite likely to have come from the LODER family that lived in Harwell, Oxon from the 1500s and who, I believe, came originally from Lowther in the Lake District which sits on the River Loder. However, it is also possible that they came from the Glocs LODERs/LOADERs and there are other possible explanations. A long shot.... I have an Elizabeth LOADER, probably living over the border in Bovingdon, Herts. (not a million miles from Chesham,) where she was briefly married to my GGF, Francis CHENEY. She had previously (pre 1814) been married to a Thomas OLIVE, and I seem to remember finding quite a lot of them in Bovingdon in the 1841 census. You may - just possibly - find her family there in the early 19th century. FWIW, Mike Chaney -- I am using the free version of SPAMfighter. We are a community of 6 million users fighting spam. I am not related to the Loaders but my father knew of several when he was overseas during WW2 He mentioned a Joyce Frusher and Phyllis Loader and how they all used to go over to the "Warwick" in the evenings. Joyce married Charles Loader and the Frushers I believe had a butcher shop Judy BC Canada > To: bucks@rootsweb.com > From: baldricktheturnip@inspiralmail.com > Date: Thu, 5 Nov 2009 08:35:55 +0000 > Subject: Re: [BKM] Loder & Rackley: Chesham area > > Hi Jackie, > > If the IGI records are anything to go by there weren't any LODERs in Bucks > before the late 1700s, although a search of the Bucks FHS Baptisms index > would confirm/disprove this. > > My gut feel is that the Bucks LODERs are quite likely to have come from the > LODER family that lived in Harwell, Oxon from the 1500s and who, I believe, > came originally from Lowther in the Lake District which sits on the River > Loder. > > However, it is also possible that they came from the Glocs LODERs/LOADERs > and there are other possible explanations. > > Hope This Helps, > B > > > > ------------------------------ > > From: "Jackie Evans" <jevans06@tiscali.co.uk> > > Subject: [BKM] Loder & Rackley: Chesham area > > > > Greetings from a new list member > > > > My ancestor George LODER was born in London in 1836 (son of Robert and > Mary) > > but his older sister Mary Ann was born in Chesham in 1823.
