Hi All. I'm trying to find descendents of Henry Goss and Elizabeth Churchill, Henry had children by his wife Sophia who died about May 1851. he married Elizabeth Churchill around September 1853. Elizabeth was born in Ashendon around 1826. Any help would be welcome, I've hit a wall in my research. Thanks Arthur in Canada

Arthur, on FreeBMD the only marriages of an Elizabeth Churchill on the same page as a Goss are September (i.e. July to September) 1855 & December (i.e. October to December) 1855, in both cases Henry Goss. Odd, that. Both pages also have William Saunders & Eliza Taylor. Looks like an indexing error. The IGI shows the marriage as 30 Sep 1855 at Waddesdon. I can't find Elizabeth Churchills christening in Ashendon. Might I ask your source for her age? The 1851 census shows a 15 year old Elizabeth in Ashendon, & a 22 year old in Waddesdon, born Ashendon. The latter was living with her widowed mother Sarah, & had a sister Mary (MASON - widow) aged 29. That matches with Mary daughter of William & Sarah Churchill of Pollicott, christened at Ashendon 27 May 1821. Sarah, Elizabeth, & young brother Alfred were at Little Milton, Oxfordshire in 1841. No sign of William. Ah. The 1871 census shows her age 42, with Henry in Waddesdon. In 1861, aged 33, Elizabeth was visiting her older sister Mary (remarried to Robert Tarbox in 1853) at Drayton Parslow. Henry was at home in Waddesdon. No sign of children in any census. Only possible birth of a child in the IGI is Mary Ann, chr 22 Jul 1861 Waddesdon - but possibly died (from FreeBMD) within weeks. Alfreds birth was registered in Aylesbury district, September quarter 1840, vol 6 p 301. His birth certificate would give you Sarahs maiden name.
