Hi, I was wondering if anybody might please have access to the 1841 census at all and might please be able to look up a lady called Elizabeth TAPPING (sometimes spelt TAPPIN) who was 75 years old in 1841 and who might have been living with her husband William (who had passed away by 1851) Elizabeth I believe was born in Wraysbury and should have still been living there in 1841. I have now checked. There is an express coach link (Oxford Bus Company for National Express) every 20 minutes from the E5 stop, from Heathrow to Oxford, stopping only about once between the two, and then, as it approaches Oxford on the A40, it makes one scheduled stop, going into the ParkandRide carpark left off the crossroads to do so. If you get off there, go back to the road, cross at the lights, turn right and walk back about 15 yards down the road away from Oxford, you will be able to catch the 280 bus to Aylesbury, which actually runs through Haddenham, stopping at Parkway station, the Crown (now Indian restaurant) in the middle, Church End, coming back up Churchway, to Cider House, then off along the main road to Dinton (main road past village), Stone and Aylesbury. (half hourly service) Going to Slough station is not advisable - the only rail links are to Marlow etc and into London so you would be travelling in and out again, since it is on the Paddington line and All connections to Haddenham or to Aylesbury run from Marylebone station. I don't know of direct bus links from Slough over this way either. Let me know when you are coming, and perhaps we can arrange something. -- Eve McLaughlin Author of the McLaughlin Guides for family historians Secretary Bucks Genealogical Society
Help!!, my head is aching from banging it against a brick wall. I am still trying to obtain any info on Harry Smith & his wife Catherine ( nee Guntrip), they ran a milk dairy in either George St or Brook St, High Wycombe. His wife died on the 24th December 1918 during the flu epidemic, leaving four children, Florence May DOB 1904, George Henry DOB 1907, Albert DOB? and Leslie DOB?. Many Thanks Ron Walters.
I would be pleased to hear from anyone researching the following families in the Haddenham and Thame area. ROSE - Phillis ROSE married Richard BURNARD in Thame in 1763.Phillis was born about 1735 but so far I have been unable to trace a baptism. She was the grand daughter of John ROSE 1652-1726 of Haddenham . Other associated names RAYNER and CLARKE from Haddenham. BURROWS and KIRTLAND from Thame. Many thanks Sheila
Is there anyone on the list in Canada who can give me e mail or postal address for Saskatchewan FHS or more particually the border branch in Lloydminster. We wrote to the address in the GRD, but this must have been incorrect as we have received no reply even though we enclosed IRC. We know we have ancestors that emigrated there, and were certainly there in 1965! Jean

You would need to find a burial record that has his age noted. There are only 2 John DAVIS in the 1851 census living in the High Wycombe area; one a baker aged 60 and the other an ag lab aged 28. Does either of these fit the bill ? John B Leic., Eng
Hi Jean, I live abt.100km. from Lloydminster and have a grand-daughter living there. Lloydminster is also listed in our telephone book. If there is a surname you would like to have me look up, I would be happy to do it for you. From that we could perhaps get a mailing address for you. I could even contact them for you would like. I have been so fortunate in receiving so much wonderful assistance from many individuals in England, especially in Bucks that I would be most happy to return the favor. Hi I realise that you have been given some information regarding the buses from Heathrow but we have just received a bus timetable from Slough Council. Unfortunately we don't have Bee Line anymore, the main bus people are 'First' There are some published web pages that may help you; www.traveline.org.uk for public transport information www.nationalexpress.com National Express enquiries and bookings www.transportforlondon.gov.uk London travel information www.nationalrail.co.uk National rail enquiries The bus from Heathrow to Slough bus station should be number 75 or 76 although there may be others. Bus number 353 goes via the Chalfonts to Chesham Bus number 74 goes via Beaconsfield to High Wycombe I hope this will help you. hazel -----Original Message----- From: Pat Ricketts [mailto:ricketts@omninet.net.au] Sent: 15 October 2004 06:50 To: BUCKS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Heathrow to BUCKS My sincere thanks to you all who have replied to my query - both on and off list - your responses were absolutely and most definitely appreciated. Suggestions re public transport, the advantages and disadvantages of bus/rail, costs, etc,web sites to explore, route planners, time-tables, maps, personal accounts of others who have trod this path - all have helped me decide how to get from Heathrow to Haddenham. In case there are others out there wondering about the easiest way to get to Bucks from Heathrow (without going into London), the following is a brief summary of listers suggestions: BUS from HEATHROW to SLOUGH or to RICKMANSWORTH or to WATFORD or to HIGH WYCOMBE [most preferred this option] ANY of the above will enable you to get a train to your destination in BUCKS. I think I will be opting for High Wycombe. A comment from one lister about the Station being a 7 minute walk from High St reminded me of an 1861 letter I have written by my newly married Sarah Saunders ALLNUTT (reared in Dinton) and married in Aylesbury to John RICKETTS. In this letter she states that they arrived at the Station Yard at Wycombe in time to see their train leaving for London and they had to wait at the Railway Hotel for another to come along. It will be good to find myself on this same station some 144 years later! At least, I hope it is the same station! Again, many thanks - my options are now clear and I feel confident I can tackle the journey to Haddenham. Kind Regards Pat in Western Australia --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Hiya Alison! I have the 1871 census info for you - unfortunately Ancestry hasn't linked the images for Wing yet (I am also waiting not so patiently for them), so I can't see the marital status or occupations. Searching for Henry Page in Wing (or Henry Page born in Wing) only returns one entry, the son of Alfred and Mary. And if you hadn't already established who Mary was, you get a bonus sister-in-law. Name Age in 1871 Birthplace Relationship Elizabeth Hownslow 26 Wing, Buckinghamshire, England Sister-in-law Alfred Page 39 Wing, Buckinghamshire, England Head Ann Page 18 Wing, Buckinghamshire, England Daughter Henry Page 14 Wing, Buckinghamshire, England Son Martha Page 10 Wing, Buckinghamshire, England Daughter Mary Page 36 Wing, Buckinghamshire, England Wife Sarah Page 12 Wing, Buckinghamshire, England Daughter Thomas Page 3 Wing, Buckinghamshire, England Son Source information: RG10/1563 Registration district: Leighton Buzzard Sub-registration district: Wing ED, institution, or vessel: 2 Folio: 40 Page: 30 Household schedule number: 178 William and Esther Page are also listed, but no son Henry with them (other children William, Eliza, Charlotte, Amy, Esther, and Sarah R Page aged 1 month) - let me know if you want all the details on that family too. Hopefully someone else will have the 1861 census info for you, and that will help you narrow down when the second Henry died. Hello everyone I would be extremley grateful if someone could look up their 1851 census to see if there is a record of the following: John Davis - a paper maker - living with his wife (Hannah). They would have been between the age of 53 and 73 and probably in the High Wycombe area.
