    2. Alan Richards
    3. Hello everybody, This time i am pursuing an Elizabeth Poole who was born in Tonbridge, Kent on 25 January, 1824. Her parents were George and Sarah, possibly with a sister Jane and probably other siblings. Would some kind person who has access to the 1841 Census please be able to look it up for me. Maybe i am doing this incorrectly and should be contacting the Kent site if one exists, if so, could somebody please advise me how to go about it. You are a great bunch of people who always respond to my queries for which i thank you. Thanks very much Alan Australia

    3. Hello All, Silly dumb aussie again. My query recently on which member of the BUCHER family that Hannah WESTLEY married in 1834 should have read 1734. Hannah BUTCHER (Nee WESTLEY) died on 6 July 1755, aged 40 years. I realise i should give all the information i have that would make it easier for you good people to pursue. Sorry for my mistake. Thanks to Richard and Paul who replied to my query. Alan Australia

    3. Is there anyone who is able to help me find the following family in the 1861 census John Boughton aged 35 born Padbury & his wife Ann Boughton aged 33 born Whaddon & their children William J aged 9 born London John S aged 7 born London Sarah Ann aged 3 born Newton Longville. John & Ann seemed to move backwards and forwards to London quiite a lot, but he was in Newton Longville in September 1860 when Sarah Ann was christened. The two older boys were not christened until 1866 in London, so they were certainly alive in 1861. By the time of the 1881 census, John has remarried, but I can find no trace of the children, or even find the death of his first wife! many thanks Jean

    1. William HICKEY & William MUNNEW at Beaconsfield
    2. Dear Listers Am new to this list with just some very specific queries to air. I hope that SKS out there may be able to help. Re: William Hickey and William Munnew (Munnoo, his Indian servant) during the years 1808 - 1830 I am researching the above relationship and the eventual fate of William Munnew. My great aunt married William Munnew's grandson, and although the Munnews are not in my direct line their story is such a fascinating one that I can't resist following it further. William HICKEY was an attorney and diarist of Irish extraction who had lived and worked in Calcutta for many years. He returned from India in 1808 bringing with him an Indian servant boy of 13 named Munnoo. Munnoo, a Hindu, converted to Christianity and was baptised in February 1809 in Beaconsfield (where they were then living at Little Hill Barn) adopting the name William MUNNEW. [I have a copy.] William Hickey's diary is held in the British Library and a portrait of them both, painted in 1819, is in the National Portrait Gallery. I believe the diary ends in 1813. In 1814 the birth of a daughter was registered in Beaconsfield to William Munnew and his wife Ann. [I have a copy.] At some point after this, William Hickey and William Munnew went to live in Richmond. In 1820, the birth of a son was registered in Richmond to William Munnew and Ann his wife. [I have a copy.] William Munnew's occupation was given as 'servant'. It is possible that William Hickey died in 1830 in Bedford Square, St. Pancras, although his death and burial registrations have not yet been found to confirm this. On 7th June 1840 William Munnew's son was married and on the certificate WM is listed as a Licensed Victualler (deceased). Neither the registration of death of WM or his wife nor their burial has been found although much more is known about their grandchildren and later descendants. These are the few tantalising facts I have to go on. So my questions/gaps with which I need help are: 1. When was William Munnew married to Ann his wife? Is there more than one church in Beaconsfield where they might have married? 2. Was Ann also a servant in William Hickey's household? 3. Did William & Ann Munnew have more children than the two found so far? 4. Is Little Hill Barn still standing in Beaconsfield? Does anyone know of any photographs? I would be very grateful for any help or pointers with these questions. As I'm not familiar with the Beaconsfield area I don't know what information is available but if anyone has access to the Beaconsfield PRs and would be willing to do a look up for me that would be wonderful. TIA Ruth Genda in Leicester (very willing to do look-ups here)

    3. Hi Tina A couple of suggestions: Bookmark this site: http://www.fhsc.org.uk/genuki/places/ You can look up any village and it will tell you the county and registration district it falls into - very handy! Also you might want to download the Parloc program - you can use this software to locate (for example) Horton and Amersham parishes, find out how close they are to each other, then assess for yourself whether it is likely they could have been in that area or if it's a real long shot. http://www.parloc.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/Frame.htm then go to Parish Locator Program to find the links to the downloads. 3. Hello List, Just to let you know that another section has been added to the 'Leighton Buzzard Observer and Linslade Gazette' Index website. This local newspaper covers a much larger area than just Leighton Buzzard and Linslade. Please remember, that although all personal names, and most of the place names mentioned in the articles, and advertisements, are added to the index, and notes of the contents of articles are included, there is often still more content to be found in the actual article. Also, please note, there is a related website giving historical information about the the towns of Leighton Buzzard, Beds. and Linslade, which was formerly in Bucks, but is now joined with Leighton to become Leighton-Linslade. Also, several of the related, surrounding villages are included on this site. Both of these sites continue to be added to at fairly regular intervals. The Leighton - Linslade website can be found at - www.leighton-linslade and the LBO Index at www.leighton-linslade/lbo/ Barbara and Kevin Quick.

There is also a Horton but in Bucks just south of Leighton Buzzard. My grandfather, William Stockley Ward was born in 1866 in Olney so it is possible that Samuel Ward may have been born in Bucks. Does anyone have any information that will help me to locate Samuel?
