    1. Biddlesden ??
    2. Hi , Merry Christmas to one and all. Trying to trace 5 men of the KASEY surname - possibly brothers and there marriage dates. Richard, George, John & William born c 1790 - 1815. Richard marries Sarah c1826 George marries Maria c1822 John marries Catherine c1818 William marries Mary c1823 They start Christening their offspring in Syresham from 1820 onwards. I`m thinking a Robert born in Biddlesden c1820s is a son of one of the couples (possibly Richard) and he ( Rbt.) moves to Whittlebury before starting his family. Did he marry his wife Naomi at Biddlesden? Would love to sort this one out before the weekend - I can rest easy then and have something to come back to after the break. Much appreciated. Pat

    3. Hi Jan, I am also researching the CLIFTON surname, which as you say often pops up as CLIFFEN, and my family went by CLIFFORD as well. Mine are in the Tingewick/Buckingham/Finmere OXF area from about 1777 up through 1900. I haven't managed to make any connection to the Quainton CLIFTONs yet, but there could yet be one pre-1770 as the distance between the two areas is less than 10 miles. Please let me know some details of your CLIFTON/CLIFFENs offlist, and we'll compare notes. I'm doing a sort of unofficial one-name study of this surname in Bucks, so I might have some resources that will help you. :-) -- Toni Skidmore Tingewick list Co-Admin Chicago, USA Researching: CLIFFORD/CLIFTON, DEAN, HOLLAND, NEAL(E), and NOQUET in Bucks -------------- Original message -------------- > Hi Everyone, > I am researching the following surnames: > > BEETSON, BROOKS, CANON, DORRELL, HAINES, MILWARD, RICE All from Waddesdon > > CLIFFFEN/CLIFTON from Quainton > > CHAPMAN from Upper Winchendon. > > Would be pleased to hear from anyone with a connection to these names. > > Regards, > Jan McMaster, > Sydney, Australia

    1. Divorce in 1912
    2. Jean Normington
    3. From my g. uncles army records (1902 - 1914) I found that he was married in 1909 and had a son born a year later in 1910. However, also on this army record is an entry which says "Wife struck off ....followed by 2 words I cannot read" and the date 9.8.12. I then was lucky enough to get his WW1 army record and this gives details of another marriage in Inverness in 1914 and also names his son born in 1910. I spent £6 on the Scotland's people website and found a marriage certificate for him giving his status as "divorced". (well worth the money!!) I thought it was very difficult for people to divorce at this time, and he certainly was not a wealthy man - just your average ag. lab. type. I have been in touch with the Divorce Absolute Searchline at 1st Avenue High Holborn, and they will do a search over a 10 year period for £20. Does anyone know what my chances are of there being a record of his divorce, and would I get much information for my £20? thanks Jean

    2. Tina Connell
    3. Hi, I was wondering if anybody might be skilled in reading handwriting from the late 1700's and early 1800's at all? Only I recently purchased 2 family wills and was thrilled to be able to print them out after downloading them to my computer but after having looked at the pages, aside from a couple of words I am completely unable to make out the handwriting unfortunately and would love to be able to learn more about what they say but I just can't seem to make out the script. I wonder if anyone might please be able to suggest an expert that I could possibly have look at them for me possibly via e-mail. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou very much. Kind regards, Tina Connell
