    3. Hi Laura FreeBMD or 1837online won't help you much in getting more info on Emma's birth in any case, as according to the two census records you mentioned she was born around 1818 and this is before civil registration started. So there will be no birth certificate, but if you are lucky you might track down a baptism record - this will be in the parish registers and those registers are your key source of info for tracing any further back in her family. You might want to see if the parish registers for either of her possible birthplaces are filmed and available through LDS, then order them to see if her baptism is in there. You could also try to locate her in the earlier censuses (bit challenging as she is probably in London) and see what is given there as her birthplace - that might indicate which option has been given more often, and therefore which parish to look in first. She is not in the Bucks census for 1851 (there are a couple of CLARKs in Akely, all age 25 and under), but presumably could have already been in London by then. There is also no Thomas CLARK(E) in any of the parishes you mentioned (could be dead by then of course). As the 1841 Bucks census is not indexed, you will really need a definite parish in order for anyone to do a lookup for either Emma or Thomas. Or you could get lucky and a CLARK(E) researcher will pop up on this list with the info you need.... 3. Vicky... The answer may be found at www.streetmap.co.uk If you search for Colly Road, you will get no matches anywhere. "Colley Road" (with an "e") brings up three matches, none of them in Bucks. Richmond Roads are ten a penny and there is one in Bucks, on the eastern outskirts of Aylesbury. It's co-ordinates are 484421,213519 and if you enter these into www.old-maps.co.uk you'll see that in the late nineteenth century, "this were all green fields". As a further check, I searched for Colly Road in Old Maps and found none, but there were 189 instances nationwide of Richmond Road. They are not indexed so it's quite a hefty search, however knowing the name of the ship and the rough date the ship sailed on is of enormous benefit. You'll need to know what port it sailed from as well. Graham :) ===== "This book is not to be discarded lightly: it should be thrown with great force..."
