Not as such. We can do you Bradwell in North Bucks, where Andrews do not seem to happen; Bragengham in Soulbury - no obvious Andrews; Beadlow - nothing likely; Bradenham near High Wycombe - well, some fairly near in 1798 in Radnage, Wooburn etc Marlow even - Boveney in Marlow is just about a possible/ Bledlow comes up as Bredlow at times, but no likely Andrews seen; It could be a minute hamlet or even a single house, like Hardtofind. I'll think about it. -- Eve McLaughlin Author of the McLaughlin Guides for family historians Secretary Bucks Genealogical Society

    3. Hello Pete, I have not found a Thomas son of my Thomas born in 1795 at Hawridge so I have no link to yours as yet. It was his mother who was a BRIANT that's if we can believe the IGI. I have not proven that yet as it is not from a church register. I know there are a great many KEEN's I am not so sure about BRIANT or its other spellings. Regards Joan

    2. J P NIXEY
    3. Well, it must be my lucky day, as I've just recieved info that my widowed grt grt grt grandmother, Elizabeth Nixey (nee Randall) was still alive in 1851 and living in Regents Place, Slough. Would someone be able and willing to look up Regents Place for me on the 1851 census please? Apparently her unmarried son, Thomas, was living with her around that time. Once again, many sincerest thanks in advance, Jon -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. Version: 7.0.308 / Virus Database: 266.11.2 - Release Date: 5/2/05

    1. Buckingham & Brackley Wesleyan Methodist Circuit - more baptisms
    2. Celia Renshaw
    3. Hi folks I've had a second bash at the BBMC registers in Northants Archive. Register ref. BBMC9 is for baptisms at Buckingham Chapel. Unsurprisingly, therefore, most of the baps were for Buckingham folk, far too many for me to record all of them in the time I had. However, I've listed below the Buckingham names I did collect so if you want more details on any of them, just say the word (onlist or offlist I don't mind). In following emails, I'll give you the baps I found in surrounding villages: Thornborough, Tingewick, Akeley, Padbury, Steeple Claydon (strong representation), Maids Moreton, Adstock. I hope that, like me, you find some lost ones - my stepfather's father and all his aunts and uncles were here, a complete gobsmacker for me and my stepdad! We didn't know there was any non-conformism in his family. 1. Missing in 1861 - Mary Ann SHAW
    2. I've looked for her everywhere! Mary Ann (born ca 1834 in Aylesbury, according to 1871 census onward) & Fanny Elizabeth (born Feb 1860) SHAW. Mary Ann had 5 children in Aylesbury between 1858 & 1869, all christened in St. Marys (though the 1863, 1865 & 1869 ones weren't christened until just before she married in 1870), & was living in Sharps Yard in 1863 & 1865, so I thought she didn't move around much. Couldn't find either Mary Ann or Fanny on the BGS 1861 census transcription, so looked on Ancestry.com, & still no luck. Any ideas? 2. Hello Eileen, My Henry Pearce born Bledlow did marry Rebecca KEEN, daughter of Thomas KEEN and Martha KEEN formerly PRICE they married on 12/04/1862 in West Wycombe. Henry died in 1879 and details on his death certificate show Shopie Bryant as his sister in law being the informant, the Pearce and Bryant family did live next to each other in or near the Court in West Wycombe for some years Rebecca Pearce was I believe still living there in 1901, but my Pearce links did move down next to the George and Dragon Pub at No. 18 where I lived for a short time during the last war. I haven't researched very far back with this side of the family but understand that the GRIMSDELL (or variants) were a large Bucks family. Hazel Rogan -----Original Message----- From: Ann Crawley [mailto:ann.crawley@virgin.net] Sent: Mon 5/2/2005 2:52 PM To: BUCKS-L@rootsweb.com Cc: Subject: Grimsdale/Grimsdell/Carter - Widmer End Does anyone have any connection to Robert Grimsdale a farmer from Widmer End, born around 1781? He was married to Rachel and I believe she was sister to Sarah Carter who married my ancestor Richard Oakins. I found Robert and Rachel on the 1841 census in Wycomb Heath with their son and daughter in law and their son George is shown on the 1851 census in Widmer End with his family. I'm hoping that finding out more about Rachel will identify where she and Sarah were born. Sarah died in 1846 and I have not been able to find Rachel on the 1851 census. 1841 indicates Rachel was born in Bucks. many thanks Ann ______________________________

    1. James Capel, Chappel or Chappell of Bierton
    2. Doug Rickard
    3. Hi Everyone Has anyone got any information on a James Capel, Chappel or Chappell of Bierton near Aylesbury? I think that he would have been born about 1826 - 1829. I also think that he was the father of all 7 children of Harriett Rickard on Buckingham Road Aylesbury in the 1852 - 1862 period. I suspect that he could have been born in Harlington Bedfordshire and that one time in his life he was a woodcutter on the Rothschild estate at Aston Clinton. But when was he born and who were his parents? When did he die and where was he buried? My searches to date have all drawn a blank. Doug Rickard

    1. Vicars of Stewkley
    2. Jane Greenfield
    3. This is really a question for Eve but the answers may be of interest to someone else. I am working on the Bishop's Transcripts for Stewkley. In 1829 the Curate had really neat writing, except when it came to his own name! Can you confirm that he was Lawrence Armitstead? Also, one of the officiating ministers is Revd W Wodley, described as Perpetual Curate of Soulbury. Somewhere else I have a note which says in 1806 The Revd. Mr Wodley of Cublington was the owner of the Manor. Then another note which says "the village ghost was the Revd William Wadley who haunted the Manor House. It is said he had a long flowing beard and rode a white horse." Can you tell me whether all these refer to the same person. Did he become the Vicar of Stewkley or was he just living there? Is the Manor House still there and what is it called? Thank you for your help, Jane
