Hi Suzie You don't say when your James COMPTON was born. I have looked on the 1851 census and have found a James COMPTON aged 7 living with, what is shown as, his widowed mother, although she is listed as 70, so he could be her grandson. I'll show it below just in case he's the one. CASTLETHORPE Piece 1723 Folio 795 Schedule 0019 Mary A. Hi Kathy My apologies but I typed SLATER in my last message and they should all have been SLATTER. Eileen
Hi Kathy, I've found some SLATERs in 1841 but only in Chilton. The ages in the 1841 census were usually rounded to the nearest 5, hence the William that is listed at 15 may have been 18 (as yours would have been). I'm not sure if they rounded the ages up or down or whether it depended on the individual enumberator. Also, there may be more SLATERs listed but due to the very poor quality (handwritten and extremely feint in places) it might not be possible to read certain pages. Anyway, here is all I've found: Reference HO 107/38/9 Name Sex Age Occupation Born in County Y or N Page 6 John SLATER M 30 Ag.Lab. Keith, it's not quite true to say you have no other way to access records. You have the option of requesting a search of the Bucks FHS database. They've transcribed Marsworth baptisms up to 1901. For some parishes (not, unfortunately, Marsworth yet) they sell transcriptions of the PRs as PDF files on floppy disc or CD (Aylesbury - too big for a floppy), & will e-mail the files direct if preferred. Small parishes only cost a pound or two. www.bucksfhs.org.uk Paul PS. My only connection with BFHS is that I've bought stuff from them. And I'd have a look for James if I had the Marsworth PRs. keith hammond wrote: >Hi, > i am desperate for a baptism look up please for a JAMES SMITH about 1800 at MARSWORTH Bucks his family were all labourers. Oops sorry list. Thanks to those who prompted me for forgetting one vital piece of information. Thomas and Mary CUTLER. circa 1850's and for the correction and the spelling of Askett. I guess you will be able to tell I am new to all this area of the world. First search into Great Britian. Many thank Jenny. That seems to be them. Thank you very much. Regards Jet in NZ.

Hi Debbie Found your George and Mary in the 1861 census, complete with a daughter Caroline although Caroline's age is a couple of years off (prob the 1881 that is not quite accurate, I know with all the domestic servants in my tree their census ages are never very reliable!) Ref is piece 887 folio 19 pg 16, address is Temple St, Brill, everyone born in Brill: George PARKER 28 ag lab Mary PARKER 25 Elizabeth PARKER 7 Edwin PARKER 5 Caroline PARKER 3 Albert PARKER 2 Charles PARKER 5m In the 1871 census your Caroline (age 13) is already a domestic servant, in the household of Thomas and Elizabeth SPARKES (Thomas is Certified Teacher, Nat School) in Brill. Piece 1432, folio 15 pg 19. Also lodging with the SPARKES is George Gent (Doctor of Medicine) and family. Her family is at piece 1432 folio 32 pg 19 in Brill, all born in Brill: George Parker 39 ag lab Mary Parker 35 ag lab (there are ditto marks!) Edwin Parker 16 ag lab Albert Parker 12 ag lab Charles Parker 10 ag lab Emma Parker 7 scholar Alice Parker 3 Kate Parker 1 You should be able to order Caroline's marriage and birth certificate easy enough, to confirm everything. Bob. Thanks for that. I wonder then if your Hannah and William MAPLEY are parents of my Hannah? The Hannah MAPLEY I am interested in married a James COMPTON. Does this fit? Did they have any daughters called Hannah? Thanks anyway. Hello, I have been trying unsuccessfully to find the baptism of Phoebe HARVEY, who according to census details, was born around 1790-91 in Brill, Bucks. (Possibly January 1791??) She married George JACKMAN in Hampstead on 13.1.1817 (Pallots Marriage Index). George was born in Towersey, and baptised in St. Catherines Church on 15.4.1792. He moved to Thame to do a blacksmithing apprenticeship with Henry Bone (under the Christopher Deane's Charity scheme), before going to Hampstead. It would be really wonderful if SKS could lookup any available records for Phoebe's birth/baptism. I would really like to know her parents' names. I have searched in at the LDS centre, searched familysearch.org, ancestry.com, without success. Many thanks in advance, Ally McRae Researching: McRAE - Kintail & surrounds, Scotland and New England, NSW (including McALISTER, McLENNAN, McIVOR, BAIN, WINGROVE, EVANS, GRAHAM, FRASER, PACE, MATHESON). Well, it seems the letters on my keyboard have rearranged themselves when I wasn't looking? Last posting re: PARKER and PARSONS in Brill should have read: George PARKER marries Mary PARSONS Thame RD 3a 833, Dec Qtr 1852 Geez! Sorry about any confusion. I was finally able to make sense of this family because a daugther of the above couple married a John WRIGHT in 1884 and they had 3 sons. One of them was Lewis PARSONS WRIGHT. Middle names can certainly be handy. Thanks for the understanding, Deb in Tallahassee, Florida
