Turns out I do have some Buck family relatives, after all. Robert Buck (I have a middle initial N?) married Jean Pearsall in 1938. Two children born in New Jersey, Ferris Buck (now Urbanowski) about 1940 and Robert Orion Buck, 1949. Robert Orion Buck and wife Holly Sorenson have Christian Orion Buck, and live in VT. Robert Buck was a pilot, according to Jean Pearsall Buck's obituary from 2004 in VT. She was a model, world traveler and accomplished gardner. The Pearsall's are my relatives, so the children of Jean and Robert would be cousins. I can't seem to find more on Robert. Jean was born in 1912, in New Jersey, not sure if the move to Vermont was due to Robert's family, or just preference. At the time of her death in 04, Robert was apparently still alive. I'd also be interested in finding out more about the origin of the Orion middle name. I have some Mason ancestors who used Orion as a first name, mostly in Massachusetts. Gary Allen Richardson
I've partially answered my own question. This Robert Buck wasn't "just" a pilot, he was quite famous for his flying career, which began at age 16 by setting the junior transcontinental air speed record, and he was the youngest pilot ever licensed in the US. The middle initial was, indeed, an N, for Nietzel. Still looking for the Orion middle name, perhaps it has a flying connotation. Doubtful the link will work, but if you Google Robert Nietzel Buck, I'm sure you'll come up with the widipedia article. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Nietzel_Buck ----- Original Message ----- From: Gary Richardson<mailto:gar3131@msn.com> To: BUCK-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:BUCK-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, August 13, 2006 12:13 PM Subject: [BUCK-L] Robert Buck, NJ and VT Turns out I do have some Buck family relatives, after all.
