Dear list, This morning I made a request for information on Hiram Buck of Macon County, IL. I just learned a few new things about this man. His wife was Martha Hammett of Douglas County. He was a leading elder in the Decatur area Methodist church and was on the governing board of Illinois Wesleyan University. The library at Illinois Wesleyan is named the Buck Memorial Library. Upon his death and later death of his wife, their gift to the University totaled about $200,000 in land holdings. If you have information about this family, I would enjoy hearing from you. Thanks, Kent Elam
Do you have any dates for these people? Awhile back there was a posting on the family of Judson Buck who married Hannah Johnson. They had a son Oliver Henry BUCK who married Hannah Hammitt. Judson Buck was apparently born 23 Aug 1808 in the Trumansburg, Tompkins, NY vicinity and died 18 Jul 1880 in Waynesville, DeWitt, IL. Ancestors of this family go back to Enoch BUCK and Mary BEEBE of Wethersfield, and New Milford, CT. Margaret Scheffler ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kent A.
