    1. [BUCK-L] Re: The Bucks of Buckfield, Maine, and later, Lynchburg, Va....
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Buck Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VYG.2ACIB/1206.2.1 Message Board Post: Hello Bill, And of course, Marry Christmas!! You're either up early and found some time to e-mail while the family is busy looking thru thier gifts...or still sleeping!! LOL!! Anyway, yes. Charles C. Buck is my gr gr grandfather. And if you're descended from his sister....then maybe we might share at least 1 gene or chromosone in common. LOL. C.C.Buck moved to Lynchburg, Va just before the Civil War to work as surveyor in town. After the war, he settled down: married a part Indian/colored woman and had 5 children. His oldest daughter Rosa Buck Clayton was my gr grandmother. When my aunt died in Dec 2000 she left me a lot of journals and other stuff left behind by C.C. Buck...even a diary (what's left of it!) I have his high school diploma from the 1880's and some receipts from that gigantic candy/confectionary store him and his son (C.C. Buck Jr.) owned in Va. at the turn of the last century.....thru the 1914 I think. I think C.C. Buck had a sister named Capitolia Buck Dunham but am not sure....at least that's what it looked like on an ancient calling card I found. OK...if any of this piqued your interest and you'd like to likewise share what you know, then you know where to find me. Lets keep this going!! Write back soon. And have a great holiday season! Do you still live in Maine? Wow.....a lot of history there. talk to you soon.. Tim (originally from Queens, NYC now living on LI)
