    3. Hi, Not to confuse things any, but per can also mean "as given by". So in my mind I read the statement as saying that the info about William Buck was given by Cornelius Harvey. I know I've encountered Pers as a first name but not Per. So I guess for me the question becomes "Is there a Per Cornelius Harvey William Buck?" Or is there a comma missing, making the statement "Per Cornelius Harvey, William Buck, age 60,..."? I thought of this because at work I see the phrase "per RN" which basically means "the nurse said" on some of the orders regarding the residents. And wondered if "Per" might mean the same type of thing here. I don't know if this helps or hinders. 3. It did not enter my mind that ANYONE could mistake the meaning of "Per" which means "according to" or "by means of". "Per" is a preposition and does not require a comma after the phrase. In addition, almost every person on this list likely has heard of the Buck Genealogy by Cornelius Harvey published in 1889. I believe Tim was joking, at least I interpreted it that way. So when I said "Per Cornelius Harvey", I meant he was the source of the information that William BUCK came on the ship "Increase". Margaret Scheffler
