He was born in Ohio on 22 December 1813, migrated to Illinois (Calhoun County area) and married Mary Jane _?_ - Their daughter, Mary Jane Buck born 15 June 1854 in Golden Eagle, Calhoun County, Illinois, married Anthony Mallette. There is a fellow in Illinois who told me that he has been searching for Balis, his great grandfather, for many years without success; so I thought I'd toss it out there.... Best wishes.
