Hi.... Now that RootsWeb has completed the "change" on this list, I thought I'd mention a couple of items that may be of interest to many of you who subscribe to this list. RootsWeb changed from "SmartList" to "Mailman" software to handle the day to day activities of the list. The change went smoothly and without incident, but there are one or two changes in policy that I thought you should be aware of. First of all: There are two "modes" available to you the list member: List Mode and Digest Mode. You may subscribe to either mode of receiving E-mail, but you may not subscribe to BOTH modes using one E-mail address. If you want to subscribe to both modes, you must use two different E-mail addresses. The result is that the "List Mode" no longer requires the "-L" in the address for subscribing and unsubscribing and submitting messages to the list. You CAN still use those variables in the address, but it is no longer necessary to do so. You still need to put only the word SUBSCRIBE or UNSUBSCRIBE in the Subject area and in the text area of those messages, depending upon what you want to do.... But only SUBSCRIBE or UNSUBSCRIBE .... No other, or additional, words. Do not send mail to the list using: -D Only send messages to the list using BUCK@rootsweb.com or BUCK-L@rootsweb.com However to subscribe and unsubscribe to and from the Digest Mode of the list use the address: BUCK-D-request@rootsweb.com If you filter your incoming mail you may need to adjust your filters so that incoming mail goes to the proper pre-selected folder in your E-mail program.... If you don't use filtering, this does not apply to you. There is also a new list available for anyone to ask questions, seek advice, etc., about the new maillist software. It has been designed for list subscribers to discuss the updates and get or give assistance in adjusting e-mail filters, etc.: LIST-UPDATE@rootsweb.com Subscribe at LIST-UPDATE-request@rootsweb.com OR to the digest mode at LIST-UPDATE-D-request@rootsweb.com You probably haven't noticed, and won't notice any changes at all....
