I am racking my brain to find a Jared BUCK and can't find him in the correct time frame in the censuses. He should be in the 1750 - 1810 time frame in the Great Bend, PA or NY area. He was supposedly a Reverend, but don't know of what church. My info from 1880 US Census says he was born in NY and at least one son's name was Chester BUCK. Could Jared be a nick name for some other name? I have tried many variations of spelling for it, but how many different ways could their be to spell it? I have done searches for just the BUCK surname and still come up with nothing that matches or would come close to Jared. Is there any site that gives a list of clergymen in the different churches of the above mentioned period or anything of that sort that I can check? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I have found in the 1850 US Federal Census - PA-Wyalusing Twp. that my Chester BUCK and his family were living next door or close to other BUCKs unless the census taker just went willy-nilly all over the county. (the numeration in the #2 Visitation Column of the Census is 156, Silas BUCK; 157, Israel BUCK; 158, Chester BUCK) I am thinking that these three BUCK families might be related but I haven't found out the relationship of Chester BUCK as of yet. Israel BUCK is the oldest of the three at age 62 in this census, Chester is 40, and Israel is 35. I have confirmed that Israel BUCK and Eliza WELLS had a son Silas, b. 1819, that would put him close to the right age mentioned in the census but I haven't been able to confirm that Israel is the father of Chester. I have info from "The History of Sauk County Wisconsin 1880" that Rev. Jared BUCK was Chester's father, but can find no other info online in any genealogy site or census that even mentions a Jared BUCK in the right time frame. Can any of you please help me figure this mystery out? TIA Kitty --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Could you please help these students by e-mailing them? Thanks, Brenda - Riverside, California... Subject: Please help this class [email protected] Hello! We are in the 5th grade at Deming Elementary School in Terre Haute, Indiana. We are located in Vigo County, on the western border of Indiana. Our teacher, Mrs. Julie Sitarski, is helping us by using her e-mail address as our e-mail receiver. We have decided, after seeing this done at another school, to map an e-mail project. We are curious to see ?where in the world? Our e-mail will travel via the Internet between October 7, 2002 and November 7, 2002 (only 1 month). This is not a pen pal project, so we will not write you back unless you request it. We would appreciate your help. If you receive this message, we ask that you: 1. E-mail us back at: [email protected] and tell us your: city/state/location so we can plot it on our map. 2. Send this letter on to everyone you know so that they can send it on to everyone they know and so on to help us reach even more people. We don't mind receiving repeats so send it on to everyone. We will keep a graph in math class using the numbers received by state and country. We will post our results on our web page so that you can see how we did. With your help, we can make this a very exciting learning experience. Thank you for your help. Mrs. Sitarski's 5th Grade Class Deming Elementary 1750 8th Avenue Terre Haute, IN 47804

I am searching for information on the ancestors and some descendants of Daniel BUIK, who first appeared in Rowan County, NC in 1778. He was German and wrote and spoke only broken English. I believe that this Daniel is the father of my earliest known ancestory Abraham BUCK who was born 19 January 1765, probably in the area of NC that became TN. Daniel is found in the 1790 NC census with 2 sons over 16 still at home. I believe this to be my Abraham and whom I believe to be his brother, Christian. Christian bought land as the same creek as Daneil and there is also a deed to Christian from Daniel recorded in Rowan County. There is also a Peggy Buck who married Thomas Avery on 12 May 1797 in Rowan Co, NC. I believe this to be a sister. Abraham married Elizabeth Wagner on February 24, 1789. She ws the daughter of Daniel and Elizabeth (Elie) Harmon Wagner. They were in Monroe Co, TN where they were active in the St. Paul Lutheran Church outside of Madisonville. I am at a loss as to who the father of Daniel could be. The JOhannes Buck family in PA is a possibility but I can't find the connection. Can someone help? I would love to correspond with anyone researching this family. Carmen Carmen Boyd, MS, LPC, RD <[email protected]> Instructor, Biomedical Sciences Department Southwest Missouri State University

Buck....the one from both Bucksport and Buckfield Maine I told you about.....who later moved to Lynchburg, Va to become a surveyor and businessman.. As for Abigail........Hmmmm, I'll have to do some checking and let you know. But have you ever heard of or think you're related to my gr gr grandfather......Charles C. Buck?? OK...thanks again for the swift reply. Hope to hear from you soon. Tim P.S. I think I also heard over the years that I (or we) might be related to the famed tiger-trainer Frank Buck as well. LOL! While going thru my recently deceased beloved Aunt's letters, I found a reference made to an "Abijah Buck." She had written her great Aunt Miss Lugie Buck Ferguson in 1977 re" some info she had on their mutual ancestors..... A Jonathan Buck and his brother (or maybe father) Abijah Buck. A name like that from that local is too much of a coincidence to be a coincidence don't you think? So we probably are very distantly related.....In fact, my aunt left me some love letters that her gr grandfther wrote over a hundred years ago. His name was Charles Carroll Buck who moved to Lynchburg Va to work as a surveyor......After service in the Civil War (possibly in the ANV) , he later opened up a candy confectioner's store on Main St down there.... He married my great grandmother Miss Mariah Harrison Buck. I believe he died in 1912 or 1916. He had a sister named Capitolia Dunham I believe.....Would you believe that I still have her and her husband'a calling card after all these decades!?!?!? OVer a hundred 120 years easily.... OK...if any of this seems even remotely familiar, please let me know and keep in touch.....we probably might have so much to chat about online..... OK..thanks again for your swift reply and query to my posting, I am, Sincerely, Mr. Tim Jameson.

While I was on vacation in July someone posted indicating that Asher Buck was a son of Philander and Esther (Bennett) BUCK. I have a list of 7 children, but not Asher. The ones I was given include Nelson, Myron (b. abt 1807), Eliza, Mineson, Lovica, Elisha and Silas. Can anyone provide a source for Asher? Who did he marry? Margaret Scheffler
