    1. [BUCK-L] John Buck of Newburyport, MA & Bucksport, ME
    2. MScheffler
    3. I have that Edmund B. BUCK (1805-1854) married Caroline STONES 20 Nov. 1833. I have the ancestors also, if you do not have them. My source for this marriage is the Genealogy of the Buck Family by Elizabeth Richards, pub. 1913. Edmund BUCK was born 20 April 1805 in Newburyport, Essex, MA (per MA vital records cd) and died 24 April 1854. I don't find his death listed in the MA vital records. His younger siblings born in 1813 and 1815 were not listed in the MA vital records. It appears his father John BUCK died 25 Nov 1835 in Bucksport, Hancock, ME. There is no place listed for his mother's death in 1850. When I go to the library this afternoon, I will try to check to see if the family has children listed. I have been gradually typing names from this Elizabeth Richards book into my database, but at the rate of a couple hours per week, I am not getting through the book very quickly. Margaret Scheffler ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marian Sargent" <[email protected]> > I am searching for info on Edmund Buck, b. Mass. 1805 to John Buck and his wife Elizabeth Bartlett. Is anyone out there researching this line? Who did Edmund marry and who were his children? This may or may not be my Edmund Buck, but I would like to rule it out if it is not! Many thanks for any help! Marian in Michigan

I don't think any of the Buch's that I am interested in came to America unless some of the younger ones came after 1952. In going through my mothers old correspondence I came across different spellings. Like Bich and Bick. This happened I think with translateing the old german script.

This is why your post was so interesting to me, because within my Buch family, the names Arthur, Frieda and Amelia are used. All I know is that Charles & Amelia Buch emigrated to the U.S. in 1869, probably through N.Y. to Philadelphia. Their five children were: Charles, Frederick, Ella, Lizzie and William Charles, my grandfather. They all left Philadelphia except Lizzie & Wm., going to N.J. or N.Y.

Mable's maiden name is Staley. She is alive and lives in Missouri. She is about 80. If the Joe and Mable you are speaking about were alive when your gran was a child then it is unlikely these are the same people. Just a coincidence of names. However, we do have family roots in Ohio in the late 1800's. It could be some branch from that time that has us related. If I learn more I will gladly let you know. Archie

    3. Hello, A few months ago I indicated that Eliza Watson Buck was the daughter of Joseph Buck and Dorcus Fairbanks. I got the info on Eliza's parents handed down to me, in writing, from Charles E. Jennings. Charles E. Jennings was Eliza's great-grandson as well as one of the earlier family researchers. Thanks for your time. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/VYG.2ACIB/1228.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Wow! I am a little taken back by all the info you gave me. In fact I am unsure now if we are related. I hope that we are but am left unsure. It is likely but difficult to be sure. Firstly, how old are you. secondly, please give me a person by person by person lineage of your family (as you know it) so I can sort out the facts. It is possible that the person you call gg grandpa Buck is the same as the one in my lineage but I need to see what else you have for facts. I think it may be that the person you are talking about is infact my gg grandfather and not Joseph Harlan Buck my grandfather. Rather, Joseph William Buck. The difficulty is the names you gave for his children. It is always possible that names have changed with familiarity but are not actually proper names. Please don't be discouraged. It has been a couple of years that I have been looking for extended family and far more are the missing links than the found ones. I will do all I can to help. Why did you mention Mable? Mable Marie Staley married Joseph Harlan Buck some time in the late 30's and they had 8 children. Joseph had one child tha we now of before that. I, and most of the related Bucks, live in Oregon and have lived here or in Washington since about 1890. However many of our kin have spread out and returned to other states in the intervening years. Please let me know what you can. We might be like 3rd or 4th cousins? Please write me at home if you wish. Best Whishes, Archie
