He enlisted July 18, 1861 at the stated age of 21. He was wounded at the battle of Mechanicsville, captured a week later at Savage Station, and is listed both as exchanged and killed in action, meaning that he may have died after being returned to Union hands. He was German-born, a cooper by trade, stood 5' 8" tall, and had brown hair and gray eyes. Other than that, I know nothing.
