Buck was the son of Benjamin Buck and Phebe Herrick and has siblings Polly and Asahel, and yes I do have other siblings, records of one of the daughters Louisa Buck in Ingham County, MI state that Benjamin Buck and Phebe Herrick had 16 children. This Daniel W. Buck was married to Sally Garrison, their son Daniel W. Buck married Nancy M. Russell and son Levi who married Loretta Jane Packard are the ones who came to Ingham County, MI, along with a few other children of Daniel and Sally Garrison. Some of the children of Daniel Buck and Sally Garrison did remain in Tompkins County, NY. There are towns called Onondaga, Tompkins, Lansing and East Lansing all in Ingham County, MI. Supposedly these towns were given names by the first settlers of the area and one of the first settlers was a Joseph E. North, who was from Lansing, Tompkins County, NY and had two sons Henry Harrison North and Joshua North that married two Buck sisters, Louisa and Almira Buck daughters of Daniel and Sally Garrison Buck. Henry Harrison North and Almira Buck North arrived first about 1839, while Joshua and Louisa Buck North didn't arrive until about 1841. So possible the NY Bucks from Tompkins and Onondaga Counties are related. Daniel Buck and Sally Garrison did not move to Michigan, but stayed and are buried in East Lansing Cemetery, East Lansing, Tompkins Cty, NY, however Daniel did make a trip over to Michigan and saw that land he had purchased was swamp land, he then turned around and went back to NY, later some of his children arrived and found higher ground in Delhi Twp., Lansing Cty, MI and stayed to raise their families. Hope this has been a little help for you. Thelma
As part of my research on BUCK families living in Onondaga Co. NY, I found information on a prominent Syracuse attorney Henry Bennet BUCK who was born in Baltimore, MD 20 Jul 1865 and died in Syracuse, Onondaga, NY 1 April 1908. Henry Bennett Buck was married to Jennie Dickson (1865-1933) daughter of Judge William Dickson and wife Annie and they had two sons Parker Dickson Buck (1899-1919) and Henry Bennet Buck who died after 1970. The latter was married to a woman identified as Mrs. H.B. Buck when she died in 1970 at the age of 63 in Syracuse, NY. They had a son Martin who was murdered prior to that time. The elder Henry Bennet BUCK was the youngest of 9 sons and next to the youngest of 16 children of John BUCK and Elnora Emily COE, apparently of Baltimore, MD. The newspaper article said the father John BUCK was also one of 16 children. Henry Bennett BUCK and his wife Jennie DICKSON were both buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Syracuse, Onondaga, NY. Jennie was born 21 Jul 1865 in Cincinnati, Ohio and died 16 Mar 1933 in Syracuse. I would appreciate anyone who can provide insight into the ancestry of these BUCKS and the siblings of Henry Bennett and his father John if anyone on the list has information on these families.. This is what I have in my notes on this family. Hope this helps. Carol Daniel BUCK bn 9 May 1786, Luzerne, PA; died 11 April 1855, Lansing, Tompkins, NY; md Sally Garrison. Notes: Daniel BUCK came t Tompkins then Cayuga county, NY with his parents and family in 1804 at the age of 19. One source says that after the death of his wife in 1838, Daniel led a wagon train to Michigan. He had been encouraged by the Ayles of the wilderness as told by his new son in law. Henry B. North. A number of his children then went to Ingham, Michigan. Daniel however returned to Lansing, Tompkins as his death is recorded there. Childen: 1. I found some information on Josiah BUCK in the Onondaga County Historical Society recently. Maj. Josiah BUCK was born 30 Dec 1767 place unknown and died in Cayuga (likely) or perhaps Onondaga County, NY 19 Sep 1841. He was a surveyor of the Central NY Military tract (about 1790) and Innkeeper (1793) at Elbridge, Onondaga, NY where he was the first white settler in 1793. In 1795 he moved to Scipio Center, Cayuga Co., NY, 10 miles South of the present day Auburn, Cayuga, NY. He had a wife Lucretia (__?__) and a daughter Lucretia born 1789. He may have had other children as there were several listed in the 1810 Scipio Center, Cayuga Co., NY census. His wife Lucretia died in 1808 and he apparently had a second wife Sally. Josiah and Sally and their daughter Lucretia who married a Horace Baker (date not listed) are buried in the Meyers-Wheeler Cemetery (Cayuga Co. NY?) I have been trying to sort out the various BUCK families who came to Central NYS in the 1700 and 1800s. If anyone has further information on this family -- ancestors or descendants, I would like to know where they fit in. Margaret Scheffler

A Tomb stone with only "Father Buck" 1821-1906 on it, next to it one with Lucinda 1831-1900, who I believe was his wife, does anyone know what this mans name was. Also found Baily M. Never did find the North Cemetery where Almira/Elmira Buck and Henry Harrison North are buried along with most of their family, hope I have time to go back and try to locate it before we leave Michigan behind in our retirement the end of May.
