Hi... Just wondered if anyone has a Balis C. Buck in their data. He was born in Ohio on 22 December 1813, migrated to Illinois (Calhoun County area) and married Mary Jane _?_ - Their daughter, Mary Jane Buck born 15 June 1854 in Golden Eagle, Calhoun County, Illinois, married Anthony Mallette. There is a fellow in Illinois who told me that he has been searching for Balis, his great grandfather, for many years without success; so I thought I'd toss it out there.... Best wishes. He was born Nov. 27, 1794 in Killingly, CT, and died Nov. 21, 1877 in Cambridge, MA. He was married first to Hannah Whitmore, 1815 in Killingly. Their 4 children were Eliza Adelia, Mary Whitmore, Adeline Caroline and David (b. about 1823). I am descended from Adeline Caroline Buck (b. 1821), and know many of her other descendants; however, I know nothing of the fate of the other 3 children. Their mother apparently died about 1823, and the father later moved to Boston to run an express business. He married Mary Lamson (of Boston) in 1828. They raised 7 children in Cambridge, MA, of whom 2 were unmarried. The other five are: Catherine Buck (b about 1832), Fanny Buck (b. about 1836), William H. Buck (b. about 1841), Levi Farwell Buck (b. 1844) and Mary A. Buck (b. about 1845). One of the girls married a Williams. If you recognize any of these names, please contact me.

I especially appreciate your help in figuring out which BUCK family is mine. Are you going to establish a web page with all the BUCK information you are accumulating? I wish there was some way I could help you with scanning the pages, but I don't have access to the Richard's book at this time. If you can photocopy pages, I will gladly help you type up the information. If you would post the complete title to the Richard's book, I will see if I can find it in the FHC in Los Angeles next time I am there. If it's there, we would have to coordinate which pages I would copy so that I wouldn't duplicate your already completed work. I get to the FHC about once a month but my next visit won't be until mid-July. Look forward to hearing from you, Judy Martin <[email protected]>

My forebears were Bucks originally from Bucksport/field Maine....by way of Lynchburg, VA where some detoured and stayed just before the Civil War.... By the way, my Buck forebear was named Charles C. Buck, son of Jonathan & Miss Bisbee Buck; Jonathan was descended from a Abidijah Buck I believe.. He had 2 sisters named Capitolia and Ophelia Buck I think. I'd like to get my hands on the Buck family biography by Richards..... Did you say it was on the Syracuse, NY library someplace?? If so, can it be "interloaned" to the local library near where I live on Long Island, NY.........just outside the NY City line.... Hope to hear from any of you all soon. Tim
The BUCK that came in 1635 on the ship "INCREASE" was William BUCK, not James BUCK. I wrote to correct this a few weeks back, but the poster seems not to have corrected the mistake or this latest reference is to the posting with the error. I have been gradually typing the names from the Richards book on the BUCKS of Bucksport, ME into my database from a book in the Syracuse, NY library, but if the James W. of the posting is in the book, I have not yet come to it. It would probably be more time efficient to scan the pages instead of typing, but our library does not have a good setup for doing this. Perhaps scanning the book would be a good project for someone with ready access to the Richards book and the proper conditions to do it. Then the information could more easily be shared on this list. Anybody willing to take this on as a project? Margaret Scheffler ----- Original Message ----- From: "Stan's e-mail" <[email protected]> > I too have a James W. Lydia HAWKINS of New Milford, Litchfield, CT married 29 Nov. 1768 Reuben MOGER. They had a daughter Rebecca Bowers MOGER born 1 April 1780 in New Milford. I have reason to believe this Lydia HAWKINS is the daughter of Robert HAWKINS (1729-1828) and Rebecca BOWERS (1729-1756), daughter of Samuel BOWERS and Sarah CARRINGTON. He married 2nd in 1758 New Milford Rachel BUCK, d. of Enoch BUCK and Mary BEEBE.. I am wondering if the Reuben MOGER who married Lydia HAWKINS is the son of Samuel MOGER and Sary of Newtown, Fairfield, CT. Reuben, son of Samuel and Sary MOGER was born 3 March 1746 in Newtown. This couple had a number of children born in Newtown, but no marriages of the children are recorded there. I would appreciate any clues about these possibly related MOGER families. My connection to the families is Robert HAWKINS, my gggg grandfather. Margaret Scheffler
