3. I have been trying to sort out the various BUCK families who lived in Onondaga Co. and came across Maj. Josiah BUCK a couple months back. I had written to the BUCK list about possible links but received no responses at that time. I did find an Ebenezer and Deborah BUCK with children Deborah, Sarah, Mary Ebenezer, Sybil and Mary born in Hebron, CT. They would have been married before 1743. If Josiah is the son of this family he must have been born some place other than Hebron . The last child I have born there is Mary born 6 April 1755. I have a little information on the Onondaga Josiah BUCK family I gleaned from some information at the Onodaga Co. NY Historical Society. I'm on vacation now, but if you write me back after July 24 I will try to look up the papers I have saved at home. The information I have gave no parents for Josiah. Margaret Scheffler

    3. Are there any of you Buck researchers that have made a connection with their Buck line to Betsy Ross(born Elizabeth Griscom, maker of our first flag)? My family always told me that Betsy Ross was somehow related through our Buck line but no one I ever talked to in the family knew how or who it was in the family that had researched it. Also do any of you have a Buck and Ringling (Circus Ringlings from Sauk County, WI) connection? My Bucks were in Sauk County, WI in the mid to late 1800s and I was told by my Great Grandfather that the Bucks and Ringlings were friends. It is possible they were neighbors or lived close bye and in later years the families married into each other. As I am stuck on my 3rd Great-Grandfather, Chester Buck, b. Great Bend, PA, 1810. His father, Jared Buck, was reported as being born in NY. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Kitty --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. 3. I don't have much but according to Samuel Orcutt in his "History of the towns of New Milford and Bridgewater, Connecticut 1703-1882 gives an Ebenezer Buck born in Jan, 1717-1718.He then states that he removed in 1801 from New Milford, CT to Salina, Onadonga Co, NY. This book was published in 1882, I was able to get a copy thru Interlibrary Loan at the public library. Orcott also says that he was 83 yrs old at the time and removed with his sons Gilbert & Philander. Orcott also says his wife's name was Thankful Baldwin. The more I look at this, I think we've run into duplicate names about the same time. All of my Josiah's were born earlier. If this helps to eliminate someone, that's all that I can hope for. CONFLICTING DATA in WFT, ICI, etc.: There seems to be reported 2 WILLIAM BUCKs who came to NE abt 1635, or thereabouts, on the H.M.S. Increase, landing in Boston. Both seem to have come with a son ROGER BUCK. One William seems to have been born in Wethersfield, Suffolk, Eng., d. in Cambridge, MS, He is bur. at Old Cemetery in Cambridge, document in probate records. Some report that a (or another?) William died in Sudbury, Buckshire, England. I haven't seen any documented proof of this person. If your WILLIAM and ROGER, who went to MA, then VA, were a very different branch of BUCK, the key would be birthplace and date; and father/mother's data. Your information may answer questions of why so many submissions to LDS, etc., have mixed information. I've had problems with other surnames; 2 Jared Terrills, 2 Ruben Caldwells, living in same area, in same time frame, but totally unrelated parentage and birth place. 2. I thought that this Cemetery listing might help someone looking for their kin. http://www.henderson-lea.hc.k12tn.net/ Henderson County, Tennessee Cemetery Inscriptions MT. MORIAH CEMETERYThis is a large, old, and well-maintained cemetery in the Reagan community. However, in places I had the impression that the cemetery had been vandalized in the past and repaired. The cemetery is located on Mt. Moriah Road. This cemetery was surveyed November 28, 1992. An earlier record for this cemetery was made by Blanch Buck, Alicia Adcox, and Anita Webb circa 1975. Their record appears in R. H. Harris, ed., Henderson County, Tennessee Cemetery Inscriptions (Memphis, 1976), Vol. II, pp. 306-314. This earlier record has two major problems. First, much of the relational information was omitted. Second, large numbers of birth and death dates were shortened to birth and death years. This new record should be especially helpful for people needing death dates to look up obituaries. The earlier work is referred to as "Harris" in the notes below. BUCK Infant, no dates, "Infant dau. of J. D. & Fannie E. Buck" [overlooked or not found in 1992; from Harris] J. Daniel, 1875-1957, "Father" footstone/Fannie E., 1878-1922 John H., 6/1/1850-3/26/1934, "Father" footstone/Martha Ann McCollum, 2/16/1854- ____, "His Wife," "Mother footstone Josie Buck Hodgin, 11/22/1882-11/18/1945 Marie, 1926-1956/Barney, 1926-____ Mather L., 1898-1968; he is reported in Harris as "Mather Lee Buck" "Son of J. D. & Fannie E."] Maudie M., 1906-1977 +Frank, 1893-1957, military marker as footstone "Franklin Buck" "Tennessee Pvt Camp Prov. Guard Co.
