She was born in Louisiana in about 1855. Her family came to Louisiana from Mettmenstetten or Meilen, Switzerland and returned to Switzerland before 1860. She married Edouard Steiger of Meilen, Switzerland and they had children Edward, Olga, Maria, Eugene, Ernst, Klara, Hedwig & Walter. Olga, Eugene, Ernst & Klara emigrated to the USA around 1902.
