THIS INFO HAS BEEN POSTED WITH THE PERMISSION OF THE EDITOR OF THE COLUMBIA BASIN HERALD. Daryl Duane Buchmann Posted: Thursday, May 08, 2008 - 03:22:40 pm PDT COLUMBIA BASIN HERALD, MOSES LAKE, WASHINGTON STATE Daryl Duane Buchmann, 59, a longtime resident of Moses Lake, was called home to be with his Lord Jesus, suddenly on May 3. Born in Ephrata on March 9, 1949, Daryl was a 1967 graduate of Moses Lake High School. He had also attended school in Hunters, Wash. During his high school years he participated in both wrestling and football. Daryl was presently employed as a guard at the Neah Bay Prison in Forks, Wash., where he had worked for many years. Prior to that he had worked as a logger near Forks, and spent most of his youth and early adult years farming east of Moses Lake around the Wheeler area, working on his uncle Ed Buchmann's wheat, sugar beet, and cattle ranch. He also spent a few years farming in Twin Falls, Idaho, before settling in Forks. In 1968 Daryl completed his Christian confirmation classes at Grace Lutheran Church in Moses Lake, then later that year he joined the United States Navy, serving primarily in California during the Vietnam War. Daryl's logging career was ended when the spotted owl was named to the Endangered Species list. Daryl was a lifelong sportsman, enjoying deer and pheasant hunting, but in later years he had become an avid fisherman, particularly smelt fishing on the Pacific coast. Throughout his life, Daryl was an ardent horseman. He presently owned a horse in Forks and drew much pleasure in its company. Married in 1983, Daryl and his wife, Vicki Deanna, spent many contented hours sitting on the beach, discussing the events of the day. Daryl was the heart and soul of a large family. His natural father, Raymond Buchmann, and a younger brother, also Raymond, preceded Daryl in death. He is survived by his wife, Vicki Deanna, six children, Dusty Daryl (wife Kristen) of Tacoma; Raymond (wife Christina) of Forks, (both from a first marriage with Cindy Lambert); Miranda (husband Ronald Haugh) of Mt. Vernon; Brandon (wife Tracy) of Seattle; Cameron Rhea (fianc/, Rafe Alan Price) of Forks; and Phillip, presently in the U.S. Army, stationed in North Carolina. Daryl is also survived by his parents, Elmer and Bonnie Buchmann; brothers and sisters, Loretta Pippins-Bennett of Lake Chelan; Dennis Buchmann of Soap Lake; Jerry Buchmann of Ephrata; Donald Buchmann, Arlene Gruver, Billy Buchmann, David Buchmann, and Bobby Buchmann, all of Moses Lake. Funeral services for Daryl will be held Saturday, May 10, at 3 p.m. at the Assembly of God church in Forks, Wash. Information on a memorial service at Grace Lutheran Church in Moses Lake will be announced. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Linda Marie (Minger) Buchmann Posted: Monday, Apr 09, 2007 - 04:00:35 pm PDT COLUMBIA BASIN HERALD, MOSES LAKE, WASHINGTON STATE Linda Marie (Minger) Buchmann passed away on March 24, 2007, at the age of 57, at SunBridge Care after a tough battle with cancer. Her last weeks were spent with many loved ones at her side. She was born, the middle of three children, in Terre Haute, Ind., on Oct. 17, 1949, to Fred and Mina Minger. Their family later moved to Phoenix, Ariz., where she attended Maryvale High School. In 1967 she met and married her first husband, Neil Nagy, and later had two children of her own. One of their favorite things to do together was to drive their motorhome to Downs Lake and drop their boat in the water and fish and camp. They also had traveled throughout many states across the country. She was able to make one last trip to Arizona in February to spend time with her life-long best friend Iris Poling and her husband Tim along with their kids and grandkids. Linda worked for Wal-Mart for over 13 years. There she made many friends and touched many hearts. In January of 2006, she was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer. She was determined to fight and beat it. Throughout her battle, she remained loving, caring and joyful. Were your BUCKMANNs ever in Alsace-Lorraine? This is also known as Elsas-Lotringen, depending the time period, of course--but some credit for the name designation needs to be given to whether the ancestors preferred the area to be run by France or Germany. Our BUCKMANN married a MENGES and there was this constant discrepancy between them as to which country correctly ruled, regardless of the current politics: one said he/she was from France; the spouse, from Germany--the tombstones were designated that they were born in Elsas-Lotringen although the region had been governed at that time by France. It must have made for interesting family discussions! I just read an interesting article in the journal of FEEFHS about the Germans who went to a portion of the Banat. BUCKMANNs weren't mentioned but that's irrelevant for the purposes of that particular article. 'Fascinating detail about the whys and wherefores of life there, and the subsequent ending of their time in that area. Your WAGNERs also interest me because my husband's direct lines include them too, likely having migrated to the region now known as Hungary after living in Germany. --Carol (Huffington) Menges

'Glad to hear some noise here! I'm printing this off for future reference, although the only BUCHMANNs my husband has (I have none, myself) start in 1763 (Jean BUCHMANN who married Madelaine SERCKER) in Oberbronn, Bas-Rhin, France (at that time), and the children of that family, and a granddaughter--Marie Regine BUCHMANN (b 28 Feb 1830 Oberbronn) who married Philip MENGES--the last two either married in Pittsburgh PA or they came over from France married, we don't know.
