    3. I really need some help. I am new to this list. The area is Grayson Co., Va. The time is about 1833, People: Lydia Bryant and Amanda Davis The story: My uncle Granville Coomes, gone now, said that his stepmother, my grandmother, was Amanda Davis Coomes and her mother was Lydia Bryant Davis. Her father was John Davis. I have no proof of this. From all records I have found Lydia did not raise Amanda. Our Amanda Davis was 17 years old in 1850, Grayson Co., Va. census. She was living with Toliver and Edna Davis Galyean. I don't know the relationship but I don't think they are sisters. I don't have parents for either Amanda or Edna. According to later census Amanda's parents were born in NC and Edna's parents were born in Va. In 1857 Amanda married my ggrandfather, James T. Coomes in Ashe Co., NC., lived for a time in Surry Co., NC. then returned to Grayson Co., Va. In 1870 Lydia Davis, who Uncle Granville said was Lydia Bryant, was living with In 1852 Amanda Davis 17 years old was living with John Davis, 1/2 Cherokee, in Paine Town, Haywood Co., NC. as his daughter. She was likely the daughter of his half brother who was full Cherokee as that is a Cherokee thing. We do not know if that is our Amanda but seems likely. The question is, can anyone tell me if a Lydia Bryant somewhere could be the mother of Amanda Davis. Patience
