I checked your Virginia and Kentucky Josiah DNA against my Plymouth Massachusetts DNA and it was off by one on several markers so I guess there isn't a strong connection there. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marsha Buck" <DeepRoots@sisna.com> To: <bryant@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, February 16, 2007 2:14 AM Subject: [BRYANT] DNA/John & William Bryant/Montgomery Co. It probably connects back in Ireland. Our Josiah was supposedly born and raised in S. Carolina. He has frequently been confused with the Josiah Bryant from Reading, Mass. who was married to Lydia Green. Our Josiah was married to Lydia Ratliff. We didn't know her maiden name until last year. Hopefully, now that we know her name - along with the DNA testing - we'll be able to put that confusion to rest for good. John is working on a project with the DNA results back in Ireland. He has isolated the Bryant name into a specific subgroup and is looking for other family names that are connected to it. Bryant - or Bryan - is a very old Irish name and is believed to have originated with Brian Boru, the last High King of Ireland. It also belongs to a subgroup that is not very common. If you want more information on that please contact John. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marilyn Burgess" <stocker7@fairpoint.net> To: "Marsha Buck" <DeepRoots@sisna.com>; <bryant@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, February 16, 2007 6:05 AM Subject: Re: [BRYANT] DNA/John & William Bryant/Montgomery Co.
