I have just subscribed to the list and hope that someone can help me to get somewhere with my ancestry. In spite of months of research, I have not been able to unravel a genealogical conundrum. My father, Dennis Roy, was born 28 October 1927 at 31 Wordsworth Road, Wealdstone, Middlesex, the eldest son of Lillian Frances Emma SEWELL. She married some six years later to Henry Reginald BRYANT. At which time, I assume that the birth certificate was amended, and the note "Adopted A J Selwood, Deputy Superintendent Registrar" added. There is no indication of whom the father might be. Rather unhelpfully, while following that line, Henry Reginald (who changed his name to Reginald Henry by the time he married), was born 3 February 1904, to Clara Amelia Bryant, at the Union Workhouse, Christchurch, Southampton. There is no indication of whom the father is. Amelia was born 12 August 1882 in Canford, Dorset to George Bryant, and Ellen Bryant, formerly Lovell. I would be grateful to hear if anyone has researched these lines, or if they can shed any light on how I might proceed from here.
