    3. Hello, My name is S. Michelle Patterson (Fogarty-Whitehead) and I am new to the list. I have been researching the Bryant line for several months, not only because I am a descendent, but because the proposed link between David Washington Bryant and James Bryan Bryant as father and son makes me 5th cousin of my deceased husband, whom I have a child by. Needless to say, I wanted to make sure this information was accurate. David Washington Bryant is my g-grandfather. This has been confirmed. What I cannot confirm is the relationship between James Bryan Bryant and David W. As I pour through all the records (census, et al), I do not find David being listed as a son of James (I also find a couple of generations of “James” have been skipped over...but this could be my mis-reading of the dates). Going further, David W Bryant states that his father was born in GA in the 1880 census. I believe James Bryan Bryant is recorded as being born in NC. Yes, it could be that David thought his father was born in GA. I have been to Rootsweb and Ancestry.com to check these branches out, but they do use the same databases, so I thought I would come here and see if anyone could shed further light on the apparent conflict of evidence. Does anyone here know of solid information that records James Bryan Bryant as David Washington Bryant’s father? Michelle
