CLEMENT BRYAN was born in SMITHFIELD, NC, Oct. 13, 1770, died in RANDOLPH, GA., Jan. 1, 1839, was wounded during the Indian War on his plantation in Randolph Co., at the Battle of Etchampy-Natchaway. All the BRYAN men were in the Battle Memoirs of Ga. By Southern Historical Association, Vol. II, Page 845. CLEMENT BRYAN in the Indian Battle was shot through the body just below the shoulder. The ball cutting his suspenders in two and the surgeon pulled one piece through the wound and out at the back. He was shot July, 1836, and was not well afterwards. He died Jan., 1839, buried in Randolph Co. In family cemetery. (From a letter written by his grandson, WHITFIELD BRYAN). CLEMENT BRYAN was married on Cape Fear River August 19, 1792, to EDITH SMITH, daughter of MAJOR DAVID SMITH. She was born Dec. 26, 1772, died in Ga., March 5, 1814. They moved to Ga. In 1805 and had eleven children. SARAH married ANSLEM EVANS. Their son CLEMENT A. EVANS was Brigadier General in the Confederate Army, died in ATLANTA, GA., July, 1911. CHARITY married O. P. CHEATHAM. MARY married GEORGE WYCHE. POLLY married JOHN RAIVES. EDITH married MARTIN BALM. NEEDHAM R. married MARTHA BATTLE> GREZILLE married JEFFERSON HINES> EMILINE married B. F. WATTS. DAVID married NANCY BATTLE. CHARITY BRYAN was born in MECKLENBERG CO., NC, April 30, 1798, married O. P. CHEATHAM in GEORGIA, Sept. 25, 1816, died Oct. 25, 1841. O. P. CHEATHAM was born in CHARLOTTE CO., VA., Sept. 25, 1796, died in STEWART CO., GA., April 15, 1850 and is buried in LUMPKINS, GA. CHARITY BRYAN is buried at BROOKSVILLE, GA., RANDOLPH COUNTY. Children of CHARITY and O. P. CHEATHAM. CLEMENT ARTHUR married ELIZABETH IRWIN. GEORGE W. married OPHELIA LEE. MARCUS OBIDIAH married EMILY GILCOAT. RUFUS SIDNEY married ANN E. LOYLESS. CAROLINE E. married FREEMAN SESSIONS. ANN died in childhood. JOHN died in childhood, buried at LUMPKINS, GA. CHARLES HENRY killed in 2nd Battle of MANASSAS, VA, buried in VA. Soil. O. P.
