Looking for information on SYLVANUS ALLEN and LYDIA BRYANT (descendants below). Does anyone know where Sylvanus Allen or Lydia Bryant were from or what other children they had besides William (my line)? Is there anyone else researching this family? I have some information that is leading me to Worcester County, MA. That information is below. AMOS ALLEN married a LYDIA BRYANT 1772. If anyone knows anything about these lines I could use all the help I can get! >From the Russia, Herkimer County web page: William ALLEN, the son of Sylvanus and Lydia (BRYANT) ALLEN, was born Jan. 3, 1777; married June, 1800, Aurel BROOKS, born Sept. 8, 1781, died May 1, 1874, the daughter of Lemuel and Keziah (HASKELL) BROOKS of Enfield, Conn. William ALLEN was an early settler in Remsen, Oneida County, NY, where he settled on a farm one-fourth of a mile north of Fairchild Corners. He was one of the first Baptist Society formed in 1799 in Russia. He was the last of these original members on the Russia Church roll and the last to pass away as far as known. He traveled eight miles every Sunday to the church of his choice. He served in the War of 1812. William Allen died May 11, 1858. A hint that they may have been in Worcestor County, MA: Amos ALLEN of Paxton, Worcester County, MA, who declared his intention to marry a Lydia BRYANT of Leicester, Worcester County, MA, on 9 Oct 1772. The record was in Leicester. * As shown above, William named a son AMOS. Could he have named him after his father? What is the mystery behind this AMOS ALLEN and LYDIA BRYANT/ SYLVANUS ALLEN and LYDIA BRYANT? Or did Sylvanus have a brother that was going to marry Lydia and then she married Sylvanus? And is this even the same family? ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATFULLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!!! Jo Dee Frasco [email protected]
