(1) Morgan Briant, b. 1671, said tp have been born in Ireland, d. 1763, m. to Martha Strode who d. at their farm on Opequam Creek, near present Winchester VA. They were married in 1719. She was descended from Sir William Strode, one of five who condemned Charles I and signed his death warrant. In VA, 12 MAY 1746, according to Lyman Chalkley's "Chronicles of the Scotch-Irish Settlement in Virginia," vol. 1, p. 17. Settled in Chester County in 1695. Moved to a grant of land on Opequam Creek, in the Shenandoah Valley, near present Winchester. Moved in 1748 to the Yadkin Valley, then Rouram County, now Davidson County, NC. (1) Children: (1,1) William Briant, b. 10 MAR 1734, m. 1755 in NC to Mary Boone. He died 7 MAY 1780 at Briant's Station KY (or however you want to spell it). (1,2) Joseph Briant, moved to Yadkin River before 1751. (1,3) Colonel Samuel Briant, a Loyalist. (1,4) John. (1,5) James. (1,6) Morgan, Jr. (1,7) Elinor. (1,8) Mary. (1,9) Thomas. (1,10) Sarah. (1,11) Rebecca, b. Shenandoah Valley near Winchester VA 1739. M. in the Yadkin Valley NC 14 Aug 1756 to Daniel Boone (the real one). She died 18 MAR 1813 at the home of her daughter Jemima Callaway at LaCharette MO. (1,1) Capt. William Briant and Mary Boone had ten children: (1,1,1) Samuel, b.
