My earlist ancestor known. Lucy Bryant 1/2 Cherokee widow was given 640 acre reservation 1817 because she did not want to go West. There were 7 listed in her household. Her reservation was near Helen, Ga. Her son John born 1775 was taken from her at an early age and carried to South Carolina. He married Frances Nance of near Spartenburg,SC and lived in Union Co. SC where he is listed on the Putman (Union) Baptist Church 1824. His daughter Thursa md Joshua Springer in Lauderdale Co. Ala. Dec. 25, 1825. According to a previous researcher over 200 wagons left Union Co. SC and went to Muscle Shoals,Ala. crossed the Tennessee River because it was wide, flat, solid bottom and ankle deep. Being inside the loop of the Tennessee River they spread into Lauderdale Co. Ala, Lawrence/Wayne/Giles/ Lincoln and Humphreys Cos. Tn. To get to West Tennessee they had to cross the river again at Reynoldsburg Humphreys Co. where a ferry was operating. John Bryant b. 1775 came into Gibson Co. Tn by 1827 where he died in 1856 and left a will naming 13 children and one set of grandchildren. If your Bryant ancestor is part Indian from North Georgia, you just may be from one of the 7 in the household of Lucy Bryant. Only John Bryant is known to be a son according to depositions given in the late 1800's. Jere
