where this started There were two Bryant men that have not tested for DNA. Posting on this board. I wish they would get tested, So we would have a database of lines to find an answers to these questions. I have test for Y67, SNP's from familytreedna and from EA. That creates a bar code from junk DNA that not used by the police or paternity people that last for as many as 20 generations. Of the 67 markers some mutate making it possible to calculate to the most recent common ancestor within a couple of generations. I am interested because I have no data on Josiah Briant (b.abt 1750) brothers or 1st cousin in SC. Regarding the last post in on Indiana Bryant's it doubtful I connect to those Bryant's because of timing, but without the other line tested how do we know. I do know this I match with O'Hara PFNY5 Townsend SR2ZD McLain J6J7J Bryant D642J and even that some of these people will not answer my e-mail they all have possible connection to Josiah Briant in Fountain County to be check out and are listed on a public database Y search all but J6J7J Y37 are tested at Y67 so these matches can not be do to randomness. I am tired of being berated for being the 1st on the block using this method of research. I have graduate work in Statistics and Probability but is 40 years old I have spent the last four months studying how to use DNA in research. It has only been in the last month rootsweb has allowed these post on DNA on their message broads. So it NEW! For John Bryant: This is for your consideration - have you seen the Williams DNA Database as maintained by Adrian Williams? This is a good site and although we're not talking Williams but Bryant he may be able to give you some insight as to how he collects and catalogs his data. If I had a direct male Bryant ancestor he wouldn't have a choice I'd order the kit and wait for him to open his mouth and in would go the swab. It's not like you're using a needle. Ellie Call
