Hello- I am new here and wanted to see if anyone perhaps connects to my line I am searching for the parents of Lucretia Bryant who was born abt 1795- she married Ahasuerus Hezekiah Dyer December 22, 1810 in Sumner County, Tennessee- William Gwin was the bondsman. Ahasuerus filed for a divorced oct 2 1821 Sumner county claiming adultery on behalf of Lucretia. I am at a loss as to who her parents were- I have found the following and have sent off for the full record since it does mention the name Gwin: Bryant, William heirs, vs. Gwin, Edward year 1820 There is also the following: William Bryan estate dated 1819 Lucretia was residing in Lincoln co., TN when the divorce was filed and I have found several Bryant families also living there. She and Ahasuerus had several children, according to the many census that I have although I am only able to conclusively place 2 sons William Dyer- my line and John Dyer I believe she must have had a couple of daughters also. One I believe was Amanda Dyer who married William Etheridge Carter and perhaps Elizabeth Dyer who married William H. Russell Thanks for any insight on the sumner co Bryant's rae
There are two BRYANT entries in the early Land Grants of Sumner Co. TN 1786-1806 -- one for James Bryant and one for William Bryant. The entry for William Bryant is dated 11 July 1788 as a land grant from the State of North Carolina and says William was a private in the Continental Line for North Carolina. The tract of land was 640 acres on the waters of Collins Creek and granted to Michael Montgomery, assignee of William Bryant. The other grant was to Michael Montgomery, assignee of said Lewis Ralph and the land joined James Bryant, dated same day, and on same Collins Creek. These might be worth pursuing to identify your Lucretia. Check with military records. -----Original Message----- From: bryant-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:bryant-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of rachel Sent: Wednesday, July 04, 2007 1:05 PM To: BRYANT@rootsweb.com Subject: [BRYANT] Bryant's in Sumner co.
