Good morning, Cindy, In the 1860 U.S. census, I find a family I believe to be yours living in the Western District of LEE County, Virginia, Jonesville P.O. The interesting thing about this particular census sheet is that it is one of those rare finds in that the censustaker not only wrote down the state in which the person was born but also the county. Perhaps this information will provide you with the lead(s) you need to find the parents of your William. Here is a transcription; dashes denote blanks; notes in brackets added by me.
